Skip Waiters Returns with “chanGES”, a Bold Glimpse Into His Next Era

Toronto’s music scene has long been a hub for innovative talent, and rising artist Skip Waiters continues to prove why he belongs in that conversation. With the release of his latest single “chanGES”, the Brampton-raised rapper and alternative hip-hop creative offers a heartfelt yet experimental track that blends smooth R&B melodies with honest lyricism. It’s the first preview of his upcoming EP and a signal of an exciting new era.

Produced by Juno-nominated powerhouses Genesis and Lord Quest, “chanGES” captures the spark of new beginnings and the emotional shifts that come with falling in love. The track mirrors the thrill of connection, moments filled with possibility, openness, and vulnerability, while also reflecting on the balance between stability and the transformation love inevitably brings.

Skip frames the single as part of a larger story. “ChanGES is a piece of the album—every track represents a part of my life and introduces listeners to my story, told through my creative alter ego, Mr. Piks,” he explains. Through this alter ego, Skip becomes both narrator and participant, guiding listeners through themes of renewal, growth, and life’s shifting seasons.

The release also arrives alongside a headline performance at The Baby G as part of Toronto’s Summer Haus series on September 14. The show marks the fourth edition of the series and gives Skip an opportunity to bring “chanGES” to life on stage, connecting directly with fans while previewing his evolving sound.

Skip Waiters’ journey so far reflects an artist consistently unafraid to dig deep. His 2021 debut mixtape Personal Stereo earned prominent playlist spots across major streaming platforms and drew praise from outlets like Rolling Stone, Live Nation, and Hello Canada. The years that followed saw him explore mental health, ego, and identity through two EPs, building a reputation for weaving sharp lyricism with social reflection.

By 2023, Skip’s first commercial album Streams of Consciousness furthered this reputation, centering therapy and introspection within the Black Canadian experience. In 2024, his sophomore release The Human Experience continued those conversations around self-identity and cultural storytelling. With over 2 million catalogue streams and a growing audience, Skip has steadily positioned himself as a voice blending artistry with purpose.

Now, with “chanGES”, Skip Waiters reintroduces himself with vulnerability, creativity, and vision. It’s a single that doesn’t just showcase his artistry, but also his willingness to embrace transformation — making him one of Toronto’s most compelling voices to watch in 2025 and beyond.
